Job Employment Kenya: 2019 Jobs Vacancy My Husband Lost His Job And It’s Tearing Us Apart Kenya
Job Description: Today Work Kenya
January is a tough month for most people when it comes to finances. But it is even more difficult for someone who lost their job at the end of last year.
What happens when you and your husband have different ideas on how to handle finances?
“My husband lost his job last year in November; He was working for a manufacturing company in Nairobi and was laid off because of redundancy.
I was not worried at first because, we have some money saved up in case of such an occurrence. When we got married, my husband and I decided that I will be a stay at home wife in order to take care of the children. This was possible because he was earning enough to sustain the whole family.
Our kids are still young but are now all in school, because of this I decided to start a catering business but I am yet to see any profit so we cannot depend on it at the moment.

The problem is, after losing our only source of income, I think we should be cutting down on expenses because we don’t know when he will be able to get another job. However, my husband doesn’t seem to understand this, he still wanted us to travel over the holiday and wants to continue doing the same things we were doing before he lost his job.
He has applied for countless jobs but he is not getting any interviews, I am worried because we have three school going children so we have a lot of expenses.
Our different views on how to handle the situation is causing a lot of friction between us and we are arguing more than we used to. My husband claims that I don’t have faith in his abilities to provide for us but I am just trying to be smart about how we spend our money.
He even went to the extent of saying since I didn’t make any of the money; I have no say in how it is spent.
I don’t know what to do because I don’t want my marriage to break down but I also don’t want us to risk our children’s future just to sustain a lifestyle we can’t afford at the moment.
Please advise me. What do I do?”
