The head of academy serves as the educational leader, entrusted with leading the Academy through a transformation process of revolutionizing its education system from the current traditional, factory model towards the 21st Century Learner Centered Approach. The head of academy will provide strategic and instructional leadership and will oversee management of the day to day operations of the school. He/she shall be responsible for the internal organization, management and control of the Academy and provide strong teaching and learning aspects by supporting teachers and students in achieving high academic standards.

Reporting To: Education Board

Direct reports: Head teachers, Deans and teachers

Key Responsibilities

  1. In consultation with the Board, the head of academy will formulate the overall aims, objectives and policies of the Academy and ensuring their implementation;
  2. Leading by example, providing educational vision and direction to secure the strong and passionate commitment of staff, parents and students;
  3. Ensuring that staff are aware of current educational developments;
  4. Ensuring that all aspects of school performance are monitored and evaluated in a robust, cyclical manner and maintaining a record of self-evaluation and areas for improvement, and of progress made in respect of these;
  5. Full control and accountability of all resources including financial, human and material resources of the Academy;
  6. Ensure compliance with all laws, Board policies and civil regulations;
  7. Will send timely reports to the Board as required and attend monthly meetings with the Board; and establish professional internal and external relations with the Board, parents, and local Community in line with Islamic religious values.
  8. Manage and coordinates the three schools –Nursery, Junior and Senior- in liaison with respective Heads of Schools;
  9. Will manage, evaluate and supervise effective and clear procedures for the operation and functioning of the school consistent with the philosophy, mission, values and goals of the school including instructional programs, extracurricular activities, and discipline systems to ensure a safe and orderly climate, building maintenance, program evaluation, personnel management, office operations and emergency procedures;
  10. Will arrange meetings of senior Management team and staff meetings for each section to generate Co-coordinated teamwork, regularly; and ensure good flow of communication systems within each section of the school and between sections


  • A Master’s Degree, National Professional Qualification for Head Teachers or other higher management qualification of equal status in either a Kenyan or other International University in Education.
  • Must be registered with Teachers Service Commission.
  • At least ten(10) years’ teaching experience
  • Experience in leading a whole school or section
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and accountability systems
  • Knowledge and understanding of current trends in teaching and learning practices
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to form effective relationships with all stakeholder groups
  • Ability to lead strategies successfully
  • Role model for teaching and learning across the school
  • Willingness and ability to attend meetings/events outside normal school day
  • Commitment to continuous personal growth

Location: Outside Nairobi

Salary: Competitive salary based on qualification and experience
