Career Management Centre is a Human Resources Management Consulting firm that provides outsourcing HR services both at a strategic and operational levels.

Our client, a healthcare facility in Makindu along Mombasa Road with inpatient and outpatient facilities seeks to recruit an Accounts Assistant.

Monthly Gross Salary: Kes 35,000

Job Purpose: To support the head of finance with business accounting activities. This includes raising, sending and processing invoices, reconciling company accounts, tax management support, following up on late payments just to mention afew.

Assist with basic administration tasks and should be on hand to answer any queries raised by staff, patients or providers.

Key Accountabilities

Cashiering and General Accounting

  • Receipting all payments i.e., in and outpatient walk-ins, and for any other services.
  • Banking the day’s collections and carrying out daily and monthly bank and cash reconciliations
  • Billing all procedure done and items used and explaining to patients their bill
  • Finalizing invoices and sending pre-authorizations to insurances.
  • Invoice booking for doctors and locums
  • Producing reports e.g., un-finalized report, finalized report, outpatient un-finalize, amount spent per patient
  • Assistant with Payroll preparation and Statutory compliance
  • Support with Audit and bookkeeping
  • Custodian of petty cash
  • Filing of taxes with KRA and ensure compliance

Admissions payments

  • Ensuring that all patients pay the required deposit at the time of admission and following up on timely top ups for self-paying patients
  • Filling in all the required documents i.e., admission papers, insurance
  • Notifying insurance companies on admission of their clients for pre-authorization and following up letters of undertaking and with NHIF.
  • Admitting the patients in the system with the correct date and type of accommodation for costing purposes


  • Finalizing all the patients’ bills affecting NHIF where applicable
  • Ensuring that all self-paying patients clear the bills before they are discharged or the undertakings are done by the authorized staff.
  • Confirming that all relevant documents are provided at the point of discharge i.e., letters of undertaking from the insurances and corporates, NHIF documents from the patient/relatives, discharge summaries from the care management and doctor’s invoices.
  • Seeking for extension from the insurance companies and corporates where the bill exceeds the amount in the undertaking letter.


  • At least CPA part II
  • Minimum 2 years of progressive working experience or Bachelor’s degree with at least one years’ experience
