Basic Education Director Job,  County Government Jobs Kenya 2021,

Kitui County Public Service Board (CPSB) is a body corporate established under Section 57 of

the County Governments Act, 2012 pursuant to Article 235 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010. Section 59 of the County Governments Act 2012 outlines the functions of the CPSB among them being “appoint persons to hold or act in offices of the County public service including in the Boards of cities and urban areas within the County and to confirm appointments”. Sections 45(1)(a) of the County Governments Act, 2012 further mandates the CPSB to competitively source and recommend qualified and experienced persons for nomination and appointment as County Chief Officers by the Governor.

Pursuant to the above constitutional and legal provisions, Kitui CPSB invites applications from qualified persons to be considered for the positions outlined below:

DIRECTOR- BASIC EDUCATION, JOB GROUP ‘CPSB 03’ (R) ONE (1) POST Terms of Service: Contract-Three Years (Renewable)

Qualifications

  • Be a Kenyan citizen;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Arts or Science and a post graduate Diploma in Education from a recognized institution;
  • Served in the grade of Deputy Director for a minimum period of three (3) years;
  • Attended a senior management course lasting for a period of not less than 4 weeks; and
  • Be registered as a teacher with the Teachers Service Commission

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Liaise with curriculum development bodies in the development, evaluation and implementation of curriculum for the ECDE centers;
  • Coordinate the articulation, interpretation and dissemination of policy issues, regulations and procedures on curriculum development, implementation and management in the County;
  • Evaluate and Monitor implementation of curriculum in ECDE centers in the County;
  • Coordination of the management of curriculum in the ECDE centers in the County;
  • Ensure implementation of National and County specific policies and legislation on ECDE;
  • Ensure smooth running of the childcare provision within the County;
  • Ensure the overall staff and organizational development for the various childcare facilities
  • Develop partnership with the early years and childcare development experts to ensure the childcare provision meets the best practice for the early childhood development;
  • Develop innovative ideas and solutions to improve the delivery of the ECDE and childcare provision;
  • Liaise with donors and financiers on matters regarding construction and equipping of ECDE centers
  • Ensure that childcare centers promote children’s holistic development, play and learning;
  • Ensure that child protection policies and procedures are adhered to at all times in liaison with the children officer;
  • Ensure that relevant support is given to staff development and training; and
  • Any other duty as may be assigned by a competent

Salary Scale: The salary, allowances and other benefits attached to the above positions will be as determined by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.
